Zee Avi Life Story

June 13, 2009

Just now I’ve read Annelies‘ post about Zee Avi, a 23 years old musician/singer. I searched her name in facebook and also find her public profile. This is Zee Avi Biography as she wrote on his Facebook Profile Page.

Zee Avi is just 23 but she’s an old soul. A huge talent in a petite frame bringing a universal message from the unlikely birthplace of Borneo, an ancient island east of Malaysia which remains an untouched, natural paradise, an apt description of her songs.

How Avi came to record her debut album in L.A., the first joint release from Ian Montone’s Monotone Label and Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records, is a true 21st century tale of the way the Internet has transformed the music business and shrunk the globe in the process.

Born in the tiny town of Miri in Sarawak on the island of Borneo, Zee grew up near the South China Sea in a liberal, encouraging household where her father owned an energy consultancy. “I was bred to be a lawyer,” she says, but music was in her blood. Her father’s father sang and played double-bass, accordion, violin and guitar in bands.

At age 12, Zee moved from Borneo to Kuala Lumpur where she has been based since. At 17, Zee started locking herself in a room for hours on end to learn to play guitar. Guitar took a back seat for 4 years while she was studying fashion design in London. When she returned to Kuala Lumpur, she picked the instrument back up and began writing songs and performing with a band.

My Blog, My Diary

June 10, 2009

Welcome to my new WordPress.com blog. This is my first post.

It has been three months since I start blogging on my previous blogspot-powered blog.  And if I am now here, it is nothing but just trying to find another home for my ideas and thinking.

I am relatively new to blog as you may find this blog themes will be changed frequently in the next few weeks after I feel comfortable and choose one themes of my choise.

I will also try to be more focus about my post on this blog. If my previous blog I write many things from celebrity, politic, to technology, here I will focus but deeper on certain topic.

I haven’t decided what topic or topics to cover here, just see in the next post. And if you want to suggest any topic of your interest, you are more than welcome to do so. Just write me an e-mail and I will consider if I can do it or not.

Well, I think this is enough for the first entry in this blog. Keep reading and following my blog and I hope to stay in touch will you all.
